Requirements for Acknowledgment

  • Original and duplicate (or photocopy) of the document/s to be acknowledged.  The Embassy will retain the duplicate.
  • Personal appearance of the executor of the document at the Embassy.  The original document must be signed in the presence of the consular officer/staff.
  • The executor must submit a copy of valid identification such as passport, driver’s license or other acceptable document with his or her photograph and signature.
  • Processing fee of ZAR 500 per document.

The acknowledged or notarized documents signed by the consular officer can be collected in three working days or within two hours upon payment of an overtime fee of ZAR 200.

Requirements for Authentication

  • The document must be notarized by a registered Notary Public.
  • Original and photocopy of the notarized document duly authenticated by the pertinent authentication/legalization office of the concerned Foreign Affairs Department/Ministry of the originating document. 
  • Processing fee of ZAR 500 per document.
