The Philippine Embassy in Pretoria conducted its fourth consular outreach mission for 2023 to Palapye and Gaborone, Botswana on 27 and 28 May 2023, respectively. The team, composed of Consul Jim Minglana and Mr. Dennis Punzalan, provided consular services such as passport renewal, birth and marriage registration, legalization of documents, and overseas voters registration for the 2025 national elections to Filipinos and their families in the area.
There are approximately 200 Filipinos in Botswana, with the majority based in Gaborone. They are mostly working as engineers, supervisors, business owners, medical professionals, teachers, missionaries etc. A number have become Botswana nationals or are spouses of locals and other foreign nationals based in the country.
The Embassy expresses its appreciation to the Filipino Association in Botswana (FAB) for helping ensure the success of the mission.
