As part of the Embassy’s economic diplomacy program, Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Noralyn Jubaira Baja, together with Embassy officials, visited the manufacturing plant of Liwayway Food South Africa (Pty) Ltd in Centurion, South Africa on 17 May 2022. She was warmly received by top management led by Operations Manager Kyle Sy, together with the company’s Filipino employees.
In addition to the facility tour, the Embassy delegation was briefed on the company’s operations and performance in South Africa. The company is currently producing the iconic Philippine snack food Pillows for South Africa and other neighboring African countries, which is locally marketed as Oozies.
Liwayway Food Company is the first Philippine-owned company that invested in South Africa. It currently employs 250 South African nationals. The company intends to expand its operations to promote its diverse product line in the Southern African region.
