The Embassy's economic team led by Ambassador Noralyn Jubaira Baja held informal discussions with officials of the Liwayway Food Marketing Corporation on 21 July 2022.
During the meeting, LFMC Director Richard Yu and Operations Manager for South Africa Kyle Sy briefed the Embassy on the status of the company’s operations.
For its part, the Embassy reiterated its continuing commitment to assist the company in its promotional efforts.
The company also shared its insights on doing business in South Africa which are valuable to the Embassy as the latter seeks to craft a coherent strategy in increasing two-way trade and investment ties between the Philippines and South Africa, as well as promoting the Philippine brand in the Southern African region.
To date, the LMFC is the only Philippine-owned company that has made investments in South Africa. The company is expanding its operations in the host country and has just completed the construction of the 2nd phase of its manufacturing facility.
