Philippine Ambassador Noralyn Jubaira Baja met with the Deputy Director General Daan du Toit of the Department of Science and Innovation of South Africa on 18 August 2022 to discuss and exchange views on how to lay the groundwork for the two countries’ development partnership in the area of science, technology and innovation (STI).

As an initial way forward, both sides agreed to work together to expedite the conclusion and signing of the Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Philippines and South Africa. The agreement will serve as a framework for both countries’ cooperation and collaboration in the vital sector of STI.
