As part of its efforts to establish the Philippines’ trade and investment footprint in South Africa, Philippine Ambassador Noralyn Jubaira Baja met with South African United Business Confederation (SAUBC) Founder and President George Sebulela on 23 September 2022.

During the meeting, Mr. Sebulela briefed Ambassador Baja on the goals, priorities and ongoing initiatives of the organization. He shared that SAUBC has fully embraced the new digital landscape as shown by its flagship project, the Virtual Trade Platform, which provides opportunities for business-to-business meetings and matchings.

He added that despite being a nascent organization, SAUBC has grown rapidly through the years. Many business chambers as well as business and exports from a wide range of sectors are now part of the organization. SAUBC has also forged partnerships with numerous countries through the signing of agreements.

For her part, Ambassador Baja expressed the Embassy’s openness to collaborate with SAUBC in laying the foundation for the enhanced economic partnership between the Philippines and South Africa.

SAUBC envisions itself to be the non-racial advocacy voice for business in South Africa.
