Philippine Ambassador Noralyn Jubaira Baja presented her Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Mauritius H.E. Prithvirajsing Roopun, GCSK on 11 September 2023 at the State House, Le Réduit.
President Roopun expressed the need to expand cooperation between the Philippines and Mauritius in areas such as trade and investment, disaster management, labor and culture. The President also noted the two countries’ many similarities.
For her part, Ambassador Baja conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. As this year marks 25 years of bilateral diplomatic relations, Ambassador Baja proposed the establishment of a Bilateral Consulative Mechanism (BCM) to enhance bilateral ties.
This and other areas of cooperation will be discussed in subsequent meetings with Mauritian officials.
Ambassador Baja was accompanied by Honorary Consul Dr. Audrey Patricia Chui Wan Cheong O.S.K. and Attaché Chynna Abaigar.
